About Food, Love & Life
Following my own personal struggle with weight and food issues for over 40 years, I discovered my personal path to wellness. I understand firsthand the challenges of maintaining a healthy, balanced life.
As a teenager I was a modern dancer and every day I looked in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw. I attended my first Weight Watchers meeting at 13 and thus began decades of dieting, emotional eating and a roller coaster of weight loss and weight gain.
In college I gained more weight than ever before. I was depressed, lonely and shared my pain with no one. I joined a weight loss clinic and after spending a $1000 I lost 30 pounds, but it was by restricting myself to eating 800 calories a day! Not sustainable. Eventually, in my 20’s I found an exercise routine that helped me to barely manage my weight. Yet, there wasn’t a day that went by when I didn’t use all my mental and emotional energy thinking about what I was going to eat, how I could lose ten pounds or wondering if my clothes would fit.
It was exhausting! My struggle with food and weight continued for the next 25 years.
Finally, in 2015, I took a yoga class in London from Julie Montagu. She spoke of her journey as a health coach, raising four children, teaching yoga, and writing cookbooks. I was so inspired I decided to follow my heart and take a leap of faith, registering at the world-renowned Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to become certified as a Holistic Health Coach.
What I learned in that program provided me with the clarity to finally heal my body. I discovered how to be healthy, lose the unwanted weight, stop dieting and most importantly, have peace of mind about my body and food. My mission to share this knowledge and gift with others became clear.
In January 2018, Liz Bane Life in Balance was born.
